This laminated safety glass in 2(B)2 class is made from two layers of glass bonded with a PVB interlayer. Thanks to the lamination, if the glass breaks, the fragments remain adhered to the film, significantly reducing the risk of injury. This safety feature is one of the main advantages of using this type of flat glass.
Class 2/B/2, according to EN 12600, means the glass has been tested with a pendulum impact simulating a person striking the glass. The “2” indicates the pendulum drop height (450 mm), while “B” describes the typical break pattern for laminated glass, showing multiple cracks with fragments held together.
Glass of this class is commonly used in areas where enhanced user safety and minimal glass scatter are required. Typical applications include doors and glazed storefronts, partition walls, interior enclosures, and technical or industrial glazing where maintaining the pane in the frame after breakage is essential.
Available from MEGAL, this glass can be used as a single glazing element or as part of insulated glass units, depending on the project requirements.
